What better way to spend a quiet weekend morning than by giving your sweet tooth a sampling of some of Brooklyn’s most tantalizing delights, while exploring it’s rich history and diverse neighborhoods. This is one tour where you can indulge and not worry about the calories since we will be cycling. While we pedal and enjoy Brooklyn’s great attractions, we will make several stops. Along the way we will be indulging in everything from artisan ice cream to award winning chocolate confections, delicious donuts, and everything in between including delicious cakes , tasty pastry’s, great coffee, home made gelato, fancy cupcakes and some surprises. And to help wash it all down , a taste of Brooklyn’s official drink – The egg cream – made the old fashion way in a beautifully restored 1920’s pharmacy.
This tour will travel through the diverse neighborhoods of Greenpoint, Williamsburg and Bushwick and then follow the river’s edge. Along the way we will visit hidden waterfront parks and piers that offer amazing daytime views of the Manhattan skyline and the iconic bridges that span the East River. Other attraction on the route will be the world famous Brooklyn Navy Yard (1801) birthplace of America’s biggest WWII battleships. Tranquil Vinegar Hill , hidden away that many locals don’t even know where it is and artsy DUMBO where former warehouses are now expensive dwellings. If time allows we will stop in old Red Hook before we head inland and experience classic brownstone Brooklyn. These iconic homes have served as many a backdrop for famous movies and TV shows over the year.
As the tour heads home we will admire more classic neighborhoods before rolling into Brooklyn Heights for that picture perfect view of the skyline from the promenade.
